John Griffith:
Co-owner & Expedition Lead
“Safety and route selection are the bedrock of any great adventure. Once those are rock-solid, the real magic of Morocco unfolds.”
Born in Tanzania, John brings over 25 years of off-road guiding and expedition experience across Southern Africa, the Pyrenees, and Morocco. Prior to guiding, John spent 16 years working offshore in hyperbaric diving—a high-stakes industry where risk assessment, vehicle preparation, and safety are top priorities. An accomplished overland traveler, he also completed a legendary two-year solo motorcycle ride from London to Cape Town.
At Stradale Morocco:
- Route Scouting & Planning: John personally maps and checks Stradale’s 4×4 routes, finding hidden tracks, mountain passes, and desert trails far off the tourist radar.
- Field Safety: Certified in Wilderness Medical Care and hyperbaric emergency response.
- Languages: Speaks English, French, Spanish, and Swahili.

Martine Goldenbeld:
Co-owner & Operations Lead
“Hospitality and adventure are in my blood. Whether you’re on a Desert Rats bike or behind the wheel of a Stradale 4×4, our mission is to make you feel completely at home in Morocco.”
Raised on a charter sailing vessel in the Netherlands, tourism and hospitality have always been second nature to Martine. After working as a hospitality and safari camp manager across Africa, she co-founded Desert Rats Tours in 2020, leading operations, client care, and creative media.
At Stradale Morocco:
- Guest Experience & Support: Martine oversees guest well-being, trip logistics, and backend operations. During expeditions, she coordinates support vehicle logistics and hospitality along remote routes.
- Safety First: Holds certified Medical First Aid and Medical Care qualifications.
- Languages: Speaks English, Dutch, German, and conversational local terms.
